Verifying your YouTube Channel allows you to:
1) Upload videos that are longer than 15 minutes
2) Add External Annotations – Lets you link annotations to external websites or merch partners (a topic that we will address in a future episode)
3) and most importantly, Add Custom Thumbnails.
Without verifying your channel you are limited to 3 frames that YouTube chooses from near the beginning, middle and end of the video.
With a custom thumbnail, you not only can choose a much better frame, but you can also customize the content of the frame.
Another benefit of having a custom thumbnail is that’s the frame people will see that entices them to watch the video.
